Checklist

Nested lists with three detail levels, sorting, search, drag to reorder, and sub-tasks that roll up.

What the Checklist is for

The Checklist is the plan as a list: tasks with sub-tasks underneath, a count and progress on each parent, and a check on the left. Because every view shares the same tasks, ticking one here completes it on the Board and the Timeline too.

Adding tasks

Type in the add field at the bottom (or press c) and press Enter; Enter again starts the next. To add a sub-task, point at a task and click the plus that appears, or open the task and add sub-tasks there. Click the caret at the left of a task to show or hide its sub-tasks; the count on the right ("1/3") says how many are done.

Detail level, show and sort

Simple shows one line per task. Expanded adds a two-line preview of the notes. Detailed adds the due date, priority, whether it is on the board, Timeline progress, logged time and the assignee. Your choice is remembered in this browser, and switching never reloads the list.

Show narrows to Open or Done. Sort offers Newest first, Due date, Priority, Name and My order, which keeps your last drag arrangement. The same menu has Uncheck all done tasks, for lists you run again. Search filters as you type.

Rows

Click a title to rename it in place. The row's actions appear as you point at it: add a sub-task, open details, and a menu with Duplicate, Make it a main task, Move under another task, and Delete (with Undo). Details opens a panel under the row with the notes, due date, priority, assignee and labels, so you can edit without leaving the list.

Dragging

Drag a task up or down to reorder it; an insertion line shows where it will land, and the sort switches to My order so the new order sticks. Hold a task over another one for a moment to make it a sub-task. Drag a sub-task to the zone above the sub-task list to make it a main task again. The details are in Checklist: dragging, nesting and sub-tasks.

  • On a phone, press and hold a row before dragging; a quick swipe scrolls.

Tasks that are on the Board

Below the list, tasks that live in a Board lane show under On the board, not yet ordered here, each with an On the board tag. Tick them here like any other task. To give one a place in the list, drag it up into the main list; it leaves its lane and takes a position in the Checklist.
