What a KPI is

A KPI is one number you watch: sign-ups, revenue, open bugs, response time. Each has a target, a unit and a metric type (number, percentage, currency or yes/no), an optional category, and a status you set (on track, at risk, off track). Plan → KPIs shows them as cards with the current value, progress against the target and a sparkline of past readings.

Higher or lower is better

Most KPIs want to go up, so Higher is better is the default. For costs, bugs, churn or response time, choose Lower is better when you create or edit the KPI. The target then reads "≤ 2", progress is full once you are at or under it, and above it progress shows how close you are (8 open bugs against a target of 2 is 25%). The trend line turns green when the value moves the right way.

Logging readings

Click a KPI to log a new value with a date. Readings build the sparkline; the latest one is the current value. Link tasks to a KPI to keep the work behind it one click away. The KPI module shows KPIs across every project, grouped by project, category or status.
