Automations
When something happens to a task, do something: notify, set priority or status, move it, or create a task.
How a rule works
A rule is one trigger and one action, per project. Open Actions → Automations (or the project's settings menu → Workflows), click New rule, name it, pick the trigger and the action, and save. It is on at once; a switch pauses it, and Recent runs shows what fired.
Triggers
- Task completed — when any task is marked done, however it was done.
- Task moved to lane — when a card arrives in the lane you choose.
- Task created — when a task is added to the project, including by import.
- Priority changed — when a task's priority is set to the level you choose.
- Due date passes — for open tasks whose due date has gone by; checked when the project is opened.
Actions
- Notify assignee — an in-app notification to the task's assignee.
- Set priority — low, medium or high.
- Set status — one of the project's statuses.
- Move to lane — a Board lane; a done lane completes the task.
- Create a task — a new task with the title you give.
Good to know
Automations are on every plan, with a small number of rules on Starter. For posting to Slack, use the Slack connection instead; it covers every change without a rule.
